The titular Wild Eight are the eight survivors of the plane crash, each of whom has a different special ability that makes them strong in certain areas. The top-down perspective, muted colour scheme and stylised graphics make this a particularly attractive change from the saminess of most survival clones. The game is challenging -- resources are scarce and death will cost you hard-won experience -- but the interface is simple and clear, with easy-to-use menus. Some parts of the control system do take a little getting used to. Like fellow plane-crash survival game The Forest, The Wild Eight possesses a rudimentary plotline that suggests that there's something unusual going on behind the disaster story on the surface.Into the OutdoorsIf you like survival games and don't mind a fair amount of grinding, some occasional cannibalism and a high difficulty level, chances are you'll enjoy this attractively-designed survival-RPG hybrid.
