Released in 1998, Tex Murphy: Overseer stood out for its groundbreaking video game technology which utilised full motion video and a wealth of 3D environment. The game also contained, as the previous iterations, a complex plot moulded together with the use of flashbacks and dialogue, the latter of which was recorded by some famous film actors. Tex Murphy: Overseer was well received at release, and it earned the award of 'Computer Adventure Game of the Year' with the Interactive Achievement Awards.
