'MC Screen Capture, as the name suggests, is a screen capturing software. It can capture the screen or a region of it or in order to create a video, with or without sound, of your whole desktop or only a part of it. The screenshot function is far from being impressive because you can't capture the active window or any particular window. The only way to capture a window is to use the capture region tool. I'd rather use Windows Paint for this feature. Instead, as a video capture software is pretty impressive for a free software. In order to capture the sound you need to install Windows Media Encoder 9 (in case for some reason it is not installed on your computer). Unfortunately, you can't change the hotkey so if you are using the 'PrintScreen' key for other reasons, you'll be forced to change it for the other applications instead of the new one. The number of settings is very scarce and the this affects the usability of the program very much. The user interface is pretty simple due to the small number of features but the program is simple to use. Pluses: It's free. Drawbacks / flaws: To few features and a screenshot feature which doesn't work as it should. In conclusion: If you want to capture your screen to create tutorials for example, this is a useful program and you might find it useful. version reviewed: 4.5.39
