Instead of the typical dark house, the game instead focuses on more familiar and effective scary elements: dark city streets, being alone at night, and having a phone with 11% battery. The game follows the typical pattern of walking a defined route for around ten minutes with a few jump scares and audio spikes thrown in for good measure. While Late Night Wanderer is certainly not a stand out entry into the genre, it is better than many. One of the major complaints is (spoilers) no actual threat exists. Many similar titles have a demon or ghost which has to be avoided but no such entity is present here. While it could be said that this puts the focus more on psychological fear, a near total lack of gameplay makes it feel pointless.Concrete jungleLate Night Wanderer is ten minutes of mediocrity with an interesting premise.
