The description of Pathos: Nethack Codex - Play With New Friends
Pathos: Nethack Codex is an old-fashioned 'roguelike' embodying the soul of Nethack-like binds. For those less versed in the history of gaming; Nethack is possibly one of the greatest video games—ever. Your objective consists of descending into the depths of a dungeon until you arrive at the gates of Hell itself. Just like in Nethack, before starting a new game, you'll choose your character type and dungeon. Among the characters you find, you'll come across typical game tropes like mages, pages, and warriors, but you'll also find some less common heroes like samurai, tourists, and cavepeople. Gameplay in Pathos: Nethack Codex follows the traditional scheme within this genre: i.e. movement and turn-based combat. All you'll need to do is tap on a tile in order to move in that direction, so if at any time you have an element to interact with, all you have to do is select it. You'll be able to open chests, kick doors down, deactivate traps, find hidden doors, etc. An element that genre purists are sure to like is the fact that despite including a fairly peculiar 'tileset' by default, you'll be able to change it at any time. In fact, you'll find three separate and distinct 'tilesets' to choose from. The ones shown below are possibly the most 'modern' set available, but there's also a 'pixelated' and 'classic' modes that mimic typical ASCII style. Pathos: Nethack Codex is an excellent 'roguelike' which thanks to its complexity, may scare those of you who are new to this genre. Despite this fact, it's still a splendid game that truly deserves a chance.
