DroidSniff is another application developed for wrongdoing that is being sold as a tool that serves the user the purpose of checking the security level of their wireless networks. Nothing is further from reality: with this app, it is very much possible to steal credentials and passwords from users connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Capture the passwords of other users from your Wi-Fi network
The app allows sniffing. That is to say, you can capture the information that circulates through a wireless network. In this case, the app has been developed to steal user data from social networks such as Instagram or Facebook. It works by spoofing, redirecting these users to a dummy URL where they enter their login details, thus capturing their information. It is one of the most common methods around for stealing data.
But of course, we all know that you're going to use this app for lawful purposes ... those being, just to verify that your network is indeed completely secure and that you need have no fear of any security risk of this type.
Requirements and additional information:
Even though the application is labelled as malicious by several antivirus programs, there is no danger from installation. This comes from usage of the app itself.
Minimum operating system requirements:
Android 4.1.The installation of the app by means of the APK file requires the activation of the "Unknown sources" option within Settings>Applications.
